Ghirardelli Window Box to make using your Cricut

I am a newbie to the Cricut machine.  I have had it for awhile, but just really started to use it.  I purchased the Design Studio software and Sure-Cuts-Alot software.  I have discovered that there are many talented people out on the web that are very generous and are sharing .cut and .scut files.

I found this great blog Crazy for Crafting.  I downloaded a .cut file to make a cute sliding window box that fits 4 Ghirardelli chocolates.  I cut it using my Design Studio Software and it came out so cute!  Check out her site, she has lots of other great files too!

Hello Kitty Sparkle Card

Here my first attempt with the Hello Kitty cartridge.  I didn't I needed to get the cartridge, since I don't have any little kids at home, but it had some cute images.  I love the way the images are bubbled and look a little contemporary.

The title of this blog has a lot of C's and Computers is one of them

Well, so far we have talked about crafts, what a Craftini is, and I have posted plenty of coupons, but we haven't talked about computers yet.

I search the net anytime I need to find an answer for anything. As you well know, searches can bring up LOTS of websites. And we click and click and click. Trying to find our answers. When we do that our browsers keep temporary files of all the website we go to on our local hard drive. When there is too many, it starts slowing down our PC's. Not to mention the Cookies (and not the good kind) that are loaded on our hard drive from many of these sites.

There is freeware out there called CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/). CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :) (description straight from the website)

I use this program at home and at work. So, go check it out and happy cleaning!! :)

Ok, I have really been into to card making with the holiday's here. So, I have been out surfing the web and found some great blogs on Cricut tips and tricks and card making ideas. The design team puts out some great cards!

I figured I would give it a try this week. So, here is my card:

The colors didn't come out so great in the picture. I might try and take a better picture later. I will be working on some holiday cards and should have them posted this week.

More Holiday Cards

After the scrapbook store visit, I got inspired to "try it at home". Let's see how things go without supervision. :)

Here are my first attempts at a couple of Holiday Cards. It was fun, so I think I will be making many more. I may even actually send them out!

Holiday Cards

Well, it's getting cold out so it's back to indoor crafts to keep me busy. I found some great blogs out there with tons of ideas for making cards. So, I am going to attempt to make Holiday cards this year. I stopped by my local scrapbook store and found out they were doing a Holiday Card Project with the Sizzix Pop-Up Sled die cut. So, I figured what the heck and joined the class right then. Here is the finished project.

Here are the "leaked" Black Friday Sale Ads for Joann's & Michael's. It looks like I will be getting up early to catch some sales. The Michael's ad mentions a three day sale, so I guess they will be open on Thanksgiving. I didn't see what time the sale starts on Thursday, but hopefully the crowd won't be as bad as on Friday.

Get your battle gear on and hit the streets ladies!!! Then grab a nice adult beverage and start Craftin'!!

Digital Craft Magazines - I love them!

I love buying craft magazines, but they can be pretty pricey. I found this site that offers 4 different magazines for one low price per month. You get a scrapbooking, card making, beads/jewelry making and general crafts magazine. The price is for the online editions. At first I was not sure if I was going to like not having a hard copy, but for me it is working just fine. I get to look through the whole magazine and only print out the projects I want to do. This is saving space in my craft room/office, too!. If you subscribe you also get all the back issues.

I just wanted to pass on the info:

I actually finished a project!!

Well, I know it has been awhile since I have posted a project. I have about 3 of them going and I haven't been motivated to work on them.

I did find a great crochet blog: http://www.crochetspot.com/ She posts free patterns as well as tips. She has a pattern for a cute hip bag. http://www.crochetspot.com/free-crochet-pattern-hip-pouch-purse/

It is kinda like a small fanny pack! In her pattern she has a belt that attaches to bag. But, since I don't always read the directions...LOL.   My belt was too short. So I thought I would make belt loops, until I get around to make a longer belt. I thought it was cute so here is my attempt.

Back:

It was a very quick project. I finished the belt, purse and the added loops it in a couple of hours.

Multi-tasking: Is not always a good thing :)

I had some flannel paired with a pajama pant pattern. Real simple and quick to make. So, why not multi-task while I am making them. It's a no brainer. Turns out, you shouldn't try to sew, catch up on TIVO shows, work from home and IM your friends on the computer. Bad things happen.

Check out the before and after:

Bad pants - I'm sure that the legs should be longer and the crotch should be a tad bit shorter. LOL

I was going to throw them away and start over, but we are in a recession. So here are the good pants:

He's Just Not That Into You... 2 hours of my life I won't get back

I know this is off topic, but I had to warn anyone that didn't drag their significant other to the movies this past weekend. This is why I don't go watch "girly" movies. It was just terrible! All the women were trying to get married or at least score a boyfriend. Really!?! So, every woman has to be with someone or they are not happy??? Really!?! I guess if your a woman and you have a successful career, great friends, a wonderful family, beautiful home and you are all around fabulous you still need a man to find true happiness. Poppycock!! :) Too bad, it has a great cast of actors. But, it is not even worth the matinee price.

Amigurumi animals - Too Cute!

I saw these cute amigurumi animals online and I just had to learn how to make them! There are a ton of tutorials and patterns out there for free. I am a visual learner so I looked for some videos. I found one (link below) and it seemed pretty simple to follow. I tried to make the ball. This is what came out. LOL!

I think it looks more like an egg or a turd :) I am going to try again. Most amigurumi projects start out with a magic ring. In this tutorial she shows you how to do the basic stitches and also how to make a magic ring. I'll post my next try soon.

The Geek Chic Crafter

Welcome to my blog space! I am computer geek, but I also love to craft. In my spare time I like to shop, sew, make cards, crochet, watch TIVO and work on my blog/website. I might have a drink or to in between. Hence, the Craftini's.  ;)

I will be posting some my creations, reviewing patterns and giving tips on problems I have come across. I hope to get some tips from other bloggers too! I plan to post all the info I find on the web about crafting, tech stuff or just anything I find useful. There is so many ideas and fun stuff out there. I just want to share. :)

I hope to get some pictures of my last few projects up soon.
