Gingerbread Kisses

Yes, I am still trying to finish Christmas cards.  lol  Just a simple card made with the Gingerbread cartridge.  I'm not real crazy about the winter seasonal cartridges this year, but I think the Gingerbread one is cute.    The stamp is from Scrappy Mom's Stamps.  Another cartridge give away coming later in the week, just in time for New Years Eve!  What better way to bring in the new year?!?  TFL

Snowman Cake!

Here is my second attempt at using the Cricut Cake machine.    I ordered the Cricut Cake Mini from JoAnn's on Black Friday for $99.  I will be using the small one more often than the big one, it is much easier to use and I don't think I will be making many cuts that require the larger mat.  So, if any of you are considering buying the Cricut Cake, I would say go for the mini.

I used the Snow Friends (2009) Cartridge and the Cake Basics Cartridge.   I used gumpaste and fondant for all the cuts.  I rolled the gumpaste/fondant on the mat and then put it in the refrig for a couple of minutes before I started my cuts.  This seems to help to make the cuts more crisp.

I cut the snowman at 3 1/2" and the snowflakes at 2".  Next time I cut anything with a face or other little lines I am going to use the Gypsy and hide the marks. I used the edible markers to make the snowman's face.

Sorry for the bad pics, the color in the pictures looks a little funny.  The fondant looks dirty around the edge of the cake, but it really is white.  :)

MPS Day 6 - 12 Days of Christmas Challenge

Robyn over at has posted a challenge to make a Christmas/Winter Card or Layout.  I am trying to finish some last minute Christmas cards, so I figured why not enter the challenge too.   Maybe I'll win a prize.   :)

Here is my quick and very purple card.  I used the Winter Lace cartridge for the snowflakes.  To get them so SPARKLY, I used spray adhesive and some Martha Stewart glitter. (which is now all over my office, ;p)  The is stamp is by Scrappy Moms and the ribbon is from Michaels.

Lots more projects to finish by this weekend.  TFL

Here are the details: Make a project using 2 shades of pink, 2 shades of blue, and black!

I used the Snow Friends cartridge to make this fabulous snowperson.  I cut the snowperson at 4".  I use 2 shades of pink paper, 2 shades of blue paper and the actual card is black.  I used TONS of Stickles, a white ribbon and $1 stamp and rhinestone set from J's.

MPS Birthday Challenge - BLOG CANDY

Robyn over @ has a challenge going on right now.  To enter you must make a birthday card, layout, 3-D item, gift, etc!

I used the Birthday Bash cartridge.  I used the Card function and made a Hippo card.  If you then press the shift key you get a layer for the card.  I am beginning to like this cartridge. It was fast and easy.  The card function is nice.  This way you don't have to go into DS and weld the two sides together.  The only complaint I have is that most of the images are for kids.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for the Winter Frolic Cartridge!  Go HERE to enter.  I'm picking a winner at NOON tomorrow, December 10th.

Here is my plaid hippo :)

Digital Coupons - Smart phone users

I am the ultimate "Techie Chick" so I have a iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and several other electronic devices.  :)  I hate my AT&T service, but I love my iPhone 4.  For all you out there with smart phones the craft world is slowly but surely going digital.  Joann's now has an iPhone app!  The nice thing about it is the digital coupons!  So no more printing out a bunch and keeping them in the car and trying to use one everyday.  Well, that might just be me.  :D  Anyway, if you don't have an iPhone the emails from Joann's also have a link to use mobile coupon codes.  You just have to show the code to the cashier.

For my iPhone friends here are a couple of other cool apps:

Macy's - also has digital coupons

Groupon - Daily specials in your area.  Anything from spa treatments to wine tasting.  Digital coupons.

Talking Carl - He does not really do anything, but he makes me smile.  : D

Cricut Cake ....Finally out of the box

I finally unpacked the Cricut Cake!  I decided to try the Rock Princess cartridge for the my first Cricut Cake.   I used Betty Crocker's Super Moist Cherry Chip cake mix and baked it in 9" Wilton pans.  I spray my pans with PAM for Baking and then sprinkle flour in the pan and shake it until it covers all the PAM.  This works well for me, my cakes just pop right out.   I used the cake leveler to even out both layers.  I frosted the cake with Betty Croker Vanilla Frosting to do a crumb coat.  I let it sit in the refrig while I make my cuts with the Cricut.

I used the frosting sheets that came with the machine.  The directions say to cover the mat with shortening.   I used a brush and Cisco white block shortening.  I placed the sheet on the mat and put in the refrig for about 5 mins.  S/N:  It says you should be able to see the brush strokes through the sheet.  You can and they never go away.  If anyone has some suggestions to make that go away, please let me know.  You can see it best in the "DIVA" cut.

I realized that once you make a cut on those sheets you need to use up the whole sheet.  There is no easy way to pull off the rest of the sheet and save it for later.  I did try, but they dry out fast and get hard.  After I cut "Too Hot 2 Handle"  I cut the "Diva" phrase too, just to use up the rest of the sheet.  It cut well while it was cold, but when I tried a third cut, it starting ripping.

After I pulled the cuts from the mat, I put them all back the refrig.  I used a gumpaste glue to put the layers together.  New problem:  You can see the glue through the sheet.  You will see in the pics.  If anyone knows what else I should use to "glue" the layers together I am open to all advice.  :)

This was a very long post, but I wanted to make sure I pass on all the good stuff I learned.  : D   Here are the pics:

Vanilla Frosting layer

Fondant layer

You can see the gumpaste glue

It broke :(

Even after it dried you can still see the glue

I cut a 1" strip to go along the bottom

Rock Princess Birthday Card and Blog Candy

I know I made this card before, but there is only one motorcycle chick on all the cartridges.  I made this for my girlfriend that I ride with.  I really like the Rock Princess cartridge.  I am FINALLY going to break out the Cricut Cake machine tonight.  :)   I will see how the Rock Princess cartridge does with the Cricut Cake.

And....BLOG CANDY!  I am giving away the Winter Frolic cartridge.  To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment and become a follower of my blog.  If you are already a follower, just leave a comment.  Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!  I bought the Scrappy Moms Clear Stamps and that is one of the stamps.  I LOVE IT!  hehehe

Cricut Cartridge Storage Solution

Sorry, I have not posted in awhile, but it is my Birthday month (yes, I said month lol) and I have been trying to get a lot fun in.  :)

I have been trying to come up with a better way to store all the cartridges I have accumulated since buying the Cricut.  I have seen a few suggestions on the MB, but when I found this one, I thought, it is inexpensive, so if I don't like it, no biggie.  Shannon over at Splatter Pattern posted this solution:   It is an old post, so some of you may have already seen it.

I did try this and it worked out well.  She posted all the dimensions to make the inserts.  It was very easy to make.

Here are a couple of my completed storage boxes.  Since all the big sales are coming up I thought I would share, just in case anyone wanted to try it.  She suggests using the Snapware Ribbon boxes, but the other ones work as well. I used the medium 2 layer rectangle boxes for the cartridges.  They only run about $9.99 or less, with a Joann coupon or sale you can pick them up for about $5.  Starting Black Friday Joann's has all plastic storage 50% off for the weekend.  Happy Shopping!

Cricut Circle Blog Weekly Challenge #6: Feathered Friends Challenge

I love sites with challenges!  There are several sites that host weekly Cricut Challenges.  The Cricut Circle Blog is one of them.  I thought it would be fun to join them and finish a few holiday cards in the process.  :)

This week the challenge was the Feathered Friends Challenge.  The challenge was to create a project of your choice using a minimum of 2 different Cricut Cuts. Your project must also include a bird of some kind and stitching (machine stitching, hand stitching, or both).

I used the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge for the two cuts.  I just love this cartridge!  I used my sewing machine to make a decorative stitch along the bottom.  I added some pop dots and Stickles and here it is.

Six Free Cartridge Gypsy Download is now working

I was picked to download the updates this weekend and it failed.  None of the cartridges loaded.  In order to get the 6 cartridges you will need to download the beta version of Cricut Sync.  Some of you will have the Cricut Sync program if you have the Imagine.  You will still need to download the update for the Cricut Sync program.  I added the link below for the directions.  After I rebooted my Gypsy, while it was still connected to my PC, it hung for a long time.  If this happens, do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete to end the program.  I rebooted my Gypsy and the new cartridges were available.  Just an FYI for everyone.  :)

Happy Halloween!! Pattern Review McCall's 4369

I love all the holidays, but one that you get to dress up and be crazy, is even better!! :)  I wanted to be Chun Li (From the Video Game Street Fighter).  I ordered a costume online and the dress was CRAPPPY!  If it was not for the accessories I would have sent it back.  Since I am soooo crafty, I figured why not just make my own dress!  I remembered a pattern that looked similar to Chun Li's dress.  I used McCall's 4369 dress pattern View C.  I think the outfit came together really cute.  The pattern was really quick and easy.  Here is the Pattern Review Link:

Think Pink! Enjoy Everyday Card

Robyn over at My Pink Stamper is having "Think Pink Week" to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  She is giving away a PINK Cricut Expression and she is asking everyone to send support cards to a fellow crafter going through the fight right now.  Click HERE to see her post.  I had a friend that lost her fight to Breast Cancer and left this world way too soon.  Life is short, enjoy your friends and family and get the most out of each day.

I made this card with the Rock Princess cartridge.  I have a motorcycle, so I had to make a "Fabulous Biker Chick".  :)

"Cow's it going?" - My Creative Time Imagine "Polka Dot" Challenge

Emma over at My Creative Time posted an Imagine "Polka Dot" Challenge.  The challenge was to make a "Project of your choice it MUST include POLKA DOTS!"  I have not used my Imagine much, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to turn it on and make something.  I cut the Cow and shapes out at 3.5, the sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps and I made the grass using a Martha Stewart punch.

It's Halloween Time

I love Halloween!  I started making cards to send out.  I made this one with the 3 Birds on Parade Cartridge.  I had to buy it from HSN, but it is so worth it.  I recently seen it on the Cricut Rewards Site so if you have some points pick it up.  I cut the "ghost" at 31/2", I used the Martha Stewart Punch (I think it is called Drippy Goo), some ribbon and a stamp from Michaels.  Of course, I added some Stickles.  :)

MPS - "Make Something Cute" Challenge

Robyn over at posted a ton of challenges this week.  I am having a crafting afternoon today, so I figured this would be an easy challenge.  I went straight for the Mini Monsters Cartridge.  I love that cartridge!!  I may have to try and make something from that cartridge everyday this week.  Have a Halloween craft week!  That would lead up to my "Craft Day" I am hosting at my house next Saturday.  I might even throw in a giveaway.  ;)

Here is my "Something Cute".  I cut the treat bag on pg 77.  I used my Gypsy to hide the contours of the face on the front of the bag.  I cut the lil monster on pg 37 at 3" put some googly eyes and Stickles on him, then stuck him on the front of the bag.  The bag was a perfect size to fit 4 Halloween Oreos in it.  :)

Christmas Cards Cartridge

I was really excited about this cartridge.  I thought it would be a great way to make quick and easy cards.  The card was quick and easy, but I wished they had given more instructions about which layers went where.  I made the card just like the example so I could figure out all the layers.  I think this would be a good cartridge to make a video for.  Maybe it would save someone else some paper.  :)  I cut this card and all the layers at 5" and added some Stickles.

Treat bags for the "Big Kids"!! I made these treat bags with the Tags, Bags and Boxes Cartridge and the paper is from the DCWV Halloween Stack.  I cut the tags and the "Poison" label using the Happy Hauntings cartridge.  The "Beware" was a rub on I found laying around.  The cute little bottles were only a $1!  :)

I made this card for my niece that turned 16 last week.  I didn't use much Cricut, I just cut out the blurb from Plantin Schoolbook.  She loves Minions...but, who doesn't!  lol  I was going to try and make one with DS, but I was strapped for time.  I added a Target gift card, so between the Minions and GC she was happy.

MPS - Imagine Bling It Up Challenge

Yes...I was weak, up too late and started watching HSN and next thing you know I have an Imagine.  lol   Robyn over at posted an Imagine Challenge and since I had not even taken it out of the box, I figured it was a good time to force me to get it out.

It is a quick and simple card.  I am going out of town tomorrow and wanted to submit something.  I haven't had time to check out all the cartridges that came with the Imagine.  But, I found one that puts smiley faces on everything.  You put a smiley face on is automatically cute. Just saying.  lol

I used the Kate's Kitchen Imagine Cartridge and I found this cute toaster and piece of toast.  The "butter nose" on the piece of toast got a little funny looking with the Stickles, but maybe he has a cold.  lol  Next week I will try out some more of the features and will defiantly be making a rack of Halloween stuff.  :)

Masculine Thank You Card - Last Day to Post Comment for Giveaway

I made this Thank You card for my Brother-in-Law (BIL).  I love Garretts Popcorn in Chicago!  While he was there for business, he was nice enough to walk to the shop and get me some...then FedEx it to me!  How wonderful is that!  I love the Cheese Popcorn, so I had orange fingers for about 3 days.  :)

I wanted to make a simple, yet "manly" card.  I used the Storybook cartridge to cut the "Thank You" and added a simple ribbon.

Reminder:  I will be picking the winner of the cartridge tomorrow afternoon.   Make sure to leave a comment on the post below.  Good Luck!

MPS - 5 Million Post Bird Challenge - What's Cooking?

I know I just posted a card, but Robyn over at posted a challenge today.  I thought would be nice to take a quick break and make a card. (I am suppose to be working)   :)

Here is a simple card made with the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge, 1 rhinestone and lots of Stickles.  This card makes me want a "Hot Dog Snack".

"BUD" Birthday Card - Using SVG cuts file and SCAL

I made this card for my Step-Father's birthday.  I bought the Cliff Clubhouse SVG Card Kit from  The six pack was actually a card, but I thought it looked kinda small and I am not an expert with SCAL yet, so I just added some pop dots on the back and added it to a bigger card.  I used SCAL to add the "BUD" lettering to the label.  I embossed Celebrate and Party on the front and then added some Stickles.

Today I took the Wilton Cookie Blossom Class at Michaels.  Our teacher was Anita and I had a blast.  I created this Halloween Cookie Bouquet.  I bought the Halloween paint can at Michaels and picked up the floral Styrofoam and  candies at the Dollar Tree.  I used the Celebrate It 20 pc Halloween Cookie Cutter set which I also bought at Michaels.

This was my first attempt at cookies on a stick.  It seems sooooo much easier that making a whole cake.  I see lots of cookies in my future.  :)

Halloween Wine Charms

I just love fall!  It means the holidays are coming and I have already started the transformation of my home decor.  I have fall colors everywhere!

There is a ton of Halloween decor out, so I have been trying to figure out what my first project is going to be.  Awhile back I found wine charm wire hoops on ebay.  They were 100 for $6.00!  I went ahead and bought them and knew I would use day.  The other day I was browsing in JoAnn's when I came across some Halloween charms for jewelry making.  I figured how cute and easy that would be to make some Halloween wine charms.  The charms were $3.99 for 5 with 40% off.  Can't beat that!  So, I bought a pack and made these 5 wine charms with beads I already had at home.  I have a feeling that my friends are going to get wine charms for gifts this year.  : D
